@Ladeback69  So far, the only KickStarter program that I've actually received has been the Carson Rodizio. I love my Rodizios, but makes me wonder and skeptical if any of the other programs are legit.
I hope this one come through, it is very cool concept.  We will see.  I know of a bunch of BBQ people here in KC that are waiting as well.

I've participated in a couple dozen projects and they have all delivered (one is being delivered today!). Maybe I've just been lucky.

There have been a handful of notable failures on Kickstarter - the one drone project that collected over $3,000,000 in funding comes to mind - but they took some steps to lessen those chances a year or so ago.

Kickstarter does have a fullfilment study here - https://www.kickstarter.com/fulfillment

It shows that about 10% of projects fail to deliver. Obviously everyone has to decide for themselves their level of acceptable risk.

With the Meater project for instance, while I did have concerns about some of its technical aspects I did feel that they would be able to get it to market. However, I decided not to participate in that project mainly because they weren't offering enough of a discount over what they anticipated its normal retail price would be. To me the deal wasn't enticing enough that I couldn't just wait to get it once it appeared on Amazon.

I've been quite curious about this one.  I use my DigiQ for overnight cooks and need a wireless option to monitor the meat temp.  I know what I'm asking for for Christmas!!

I was looking at getting the Tappeque till I seen this and for a little less and wireless I went with the MEATER.  Here is the Tappeque on Amazon for $199 that is WIFI and works pretty well.

I'm familiar with the Tappecue. I thought about buying one when they first came out but their original version had a really crappy case that was nowhere near being able to deal with a light rain drizzle or an accidental splash. Their latest version is much improved in that regard.
