That grate looks great!
Looks like a modification on the nest casters as well.

I got one of those for my large. Can't agree with you more "built like a tank" for sure. Also everything is true and square all the way around, excellent craftsmanship IMO. You are going to love your custom grate. I did a CowBoy Rib Eye on Monday and just loved the way it put an excellent sear on. That grill grate will probably last longer than either you or I. Fine purchase IMO.

Nice. I'm going to get one custom made for my MM when that time rolls around.

Do the handles interfere with the XL adjustable rig?

I don't see it listed on his website. What do these cost for a large? One large BGE in Louisville, KY. -
Mind telling us the approximate weight of that "manhole cover"? LOL. I had Mike make me one for my small egg and I love it! No need to keep his number on speed dial as his produces will out last us original owner. Just remember to add them to your list for your executor to not overlook.Re-gasketing the USA one yard at a time

Haven't seen the hinged one before; that thing looks amazing!

Me neither, but then Mike is creative in is own rights and also have people ask "could you add this" or delete that...after all - so much of his work is custom.DaveRichardson said:Haven't seen the hinged one before; that thing looks amazing!Re-gasketing the USA one yard at a time -

Michael is a great guy and makes some awesome grates! Here is my XL grate with Woo mods he made for me

How does that work sitting on the plate setter legs up? Any issues?

That set up looks outstanding! I have an XL Woo and would like to have him modify mine. Do you set your stone on top of the lower grid for indirect cooks? Also, did you send him you existing woo to modify or is that a brand new woo?Boombotty said:Michael is a great guy and makes some awesome grates! Here is my XL grate with Woo mods he made for me

The XL Woo
-
Not to hijack this thread, but I sent Michael my Woo to have him weld on the bottom bars and handle. That way, he could make sure the grate fit perfect. I use a half moon stone in the back, on top of the lower grate, so I have two cooking zones. I plan to get another half moon to put in front instead of using my plate setter

RRP I purchased pretty much the same grate 3/8 " bars with 1/4" space between the bars, however mine does not have handles. Mine comes in at just under 18.5 lbs. Really heavy, but works so well it is easily worth the trouble of lifting it in and out of the Egg. I got the swinging door as well, to make it easy to tend the fire and add smoking wood during a cook.RRP said:Mind telling us the approximate weight of that "manhole cover"? LOL. How much for the xl hinged grate?“There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body.”

Excellent grate. Got one for my Medium a couple years back to replace the crapola BGE porcelain grids (went through 3 of those over the years).
Michaels Grate will last as long as my Egg (or longer
