Just read through the comment section, I have a LBGE and a KJ. It is crazy to think that BGE will continue its run the way it has if they don't do something to show their current following and new buyers that they are still interested in improving and being innovative.
I am not beating the company down but the competition is catching and in some cases surpassing their products quality and beating their price hands down. Done a ton of cooks on each brand and I get the same great food from each.
I agree with the above though, my KJ never has had to be adjusted to correct under bite or anything else.VA Beach -
Yeah I apologize guys. Sorry @WeberWho. I was hiving a sh!t day and that was uncalled for. Back to your regularly scheduled program...NPHuskerFL said: -
@yljkt No worries. It was my bad. All is good. I've never disliked, flagged, or pressed off topic intentionally on anyone's post. My fat fingers must have accidentally pressed it while scrolling on my phone. Keep cooking away. I enjoy your posts!"The pig is an amazing animal. You feed a pig an apple and it makes bacon. Thanks for posting this. I've been curious to see if this would fit or not. Do you have the extender as well?

I guess I'm misunderstanding; "raised direct", to me, means NO placesetter, and it already does "raised indirect".I agree the plate setter is due for a redesign. I think at minimum it should allow for raised direct and indirect cooking, and it should be included with the egg.
I do agree, however, that it should be standard issue."Dumplings are just noodles that have already eaten" - Jon Kung

I honestly think BGE might have that too big to fail mentality. Like mentioned, there is no innovation in the accessories. There is no attention to the fit and finish. I had to use washers on mine to get the dome to line up on a brand new egg. Some have mentioned crooked fireboxes. KJ comes standard with most of the accessories BGE requires you to buy. The KJ stuff comes with most of the accessories we want and buy from 3rd party. Even the cheaper one sold at Home Depot comes with an electric lighter standard.
The comparison to Blackberry is a good one. Where is Blackberry now? Comparing it to YETI might be another, but at least YETI keeps up with the competition's products. Though they still charge you for the label. All three have/had a cult-like following where people are brand loyal to an expensive product.

By raised direct I mean the equivalent of a woo with no stone- the grid is raised to the felt line. I agree you can accomplish similar results just by using no plate setter and less lump, but I think some things cook better at the felt line.Botch said:
