Mini max air keak

Just got my adapter plate for the fan blower on the minimax.  As you can tell by the pictures this thing leaks like a sift.  I'd say every time the fan turns on it's blowing probably about 25% of the air out the sides of the adapter plate.
Any contraptions I can do to elminate the air leakage ?

You can either slightly crimp your corners of the door slides/tracks tighter or wedge a couple washers between the door and track pushing it tight to the ceramics. Just be aware if you tighten the track, it will obviously have more restrictive movement when adjusting without a controller.
  •  Fortunately the instructions said I had to remove the sliding door and also the little screen slider as well.
I have tried to pinch it and bend it a little bit to conform more with the curb but it doesn't seem like it's working.

If you bend the ends a bit more it should wedge itself between the rails and seal off better. Just to clarify, you are talking about the adaptor plate for your controller fan?

Are you able to hold temps?
After a few cooks it will gunk up and get better.

  • Yes the adapter plate the fan attaches too.
I'll try to bend it a little more if that doesn't work then I'll either deal with the leak or I'll just put some hi temp gasket sealer on there

They all are like that. Get some high heat silicone maybe? Mines the same way I just left it

  • I may do that. I have a Rutland gasket to put on and I might seal up that plate with with the same silicone gasket maker. Only thing is I won't be able to remove the plate once it is sealed up.

Yeah for cleaning if nothing else that plate has to move. You could try crimping the channels it slides in a little. IOW taping it closed a little with a piece of wood and a small mallet. Can always open with a screwdriver blade if its too tight. I would start by removing the bottom vent entirely and re-silicone. The narrow ends get no sealer from the factory for whatever reason.

You know what's a crime is that Guru (and others) charge $25 dollars for this adapter. For that kinda money it should fit your egg perfectly and not universally.

I'm actually making an adapter myself to fit perfectly.

This is just a prototype, the final version will have a slight curve and be much wider with a slight ridge to fit under the sliding door on the right side.

A little self-adhesive Nomex tape around the perimeter of the adaptor should do the trick without messing with the track of your cooker.

With the variations in BGE quality control it would be hard for anyone to make anything fit perfectly. Even BGE parts dont fit perfect.lol
    Your adapter mod looks great.
