Outdoor Kitchen with Trex Skin

So I started construction on my outdoor kitchen.  framed up with PT lumber, 1/2" Durock sheathing.  All seams taped up with Pella window/door tape.  The plan is to install Trex Spiced Rum fascia around the outside and top off with granite.

I have it all built and taped, picking up the Trex today... but yesterday it (finally) rained here in OH - like a downpour.  I had my kitchen covered, but some of the sides got wet and I noticed that the cement board acts more like a sponge than a water barrier.  This got me thinking, so I called Durock and talked to a tech who said just that, it absorbs water.  He said all this is normal and suggested that I install Tyvek wrap around the kitchen to allow for moisture barrier while still allowing the cement board to breathe.

Has anyone else done something similar? The smallest roll of Tyvek wrap is $65 and I'll have enough to do 5 kitchens...

Oh, and before everyone loses their mind on building the kitchen with PT wood and the fire hazards of the egg, rest easy the LBGE will be nestled at the end, free standing, by itself, surrounded by stone veneer.
