I was politely told I was on my own, and advised to "give it a good yank". I very nearly broke three fingers, but I did indeed get it out.

Rather than try to dispose of my previous body and dome, I'm thinking of gifting it to my chronically unemployed nephew (along with the broken-up fire ring). Since I'm getting nothing but dome and base from BGE, I'd need, let's see, firebox, thermometer, grating,....and what else is mandatory?

In addition to what you listed you would need the metal top (DFMT). fire grate, and possibly the bands and handle if they don't include those.

Wow, even handles aside (can't find them listed anywhere), and assuming he won't need a ceramic damper top, I'll need to drop nearly $400!

Woops, this doesn't even include a nest, so make it $430 with the basic, non-wheeled nest. This might not be viable.
