Didn't need that knuckle hair anyway...

Lit the LBGE, watched it slowly climb to 200 onto my target of 400, and dammit, started getting distracted by the Olympics... Turned back around and I thought my dome temp broke.  It was red lining... pegged...  Shut down the vents, and thankfully watched it drop a couple of hundred degrees in a few moments.

I 'thought' I did the burp correctly, but apparently not. Now I know what a "back draft or flare-ups that could cause a flash of heat to burn your hand" means.

Anywhooo... got it to calm down to 400, and put the Costco salmon on.  (I know, but it was affordable, ready to go, and less than the usual Costco metric ton of protein package.)

Haha... I used to make fun of people when I read stuff like this because I never had it happen. Then one day I let the egg get way too hot, shut it down, opened the dome and instantly thought I had fallen through the fiery gates of hell.  Lol...

    Great looking fish btw.

It's amazing that you don't realize how much knuckle hair you lose grilling.  I had my left hand in a cast for over a month, and had to actually trim the hair on my fingers because I didn't have it over a grill.  Valid statement.

  • Last night. With a plate setter. Seriously. It was at 650 when I called it and pulled the plug. My hand looks like an extra in Sharknado 7. Flamenado

@flyerdoc ahem, one might assume but my half polish side makes me look like an Italian minus the tan...

We also enjoy that salmon from Costco. Great looking plate. Just a tip if you are in a pinch to get that temp down, place a big dish of cold water in the egg.

Good to know.  I think I'll try to keep an eye on the lighting process first, though...
