Thinking Blackstone...

Decided to do breakfast on the egg later this morning. As I was doing my thing I found myself thinking "Blackstone". I gotta be strong and power through not pulling the trigger.
Here's breakfast

It's way easier and better on the BS. I enjoy my Eggs, but let's face it, it's not always the right tool for the job. The BS will cut into egg time.------------------------------

I realize it. Just have Mrs. Honda probs. She flipped out the other night when I got a pair of high temp gloves (got another pair last mon the that burned my paws). If I got another cooking device (have lge, mm, and smokey mtn) she'll implode.Dawgs8033 said:Don't talk yourself out of it. It is a great tool to have in your pocket.

There is always the $80 tabletop model you can hide from her.

I'd really lay the advantages of this. Less mess in the kitchen and less smell are two big advantages. Quicker meals too.------------------------------

I agree. We use ours a lot. And it works well for a warming table for Egg'd items before they go into the house.tarheelmatt said:I'd really lay the advantages of this. Less mess in the kitchen and less smell are two big advantages. Quicker meals too.

Even an unskilled laborer can turn out grub on a blackstone.

I would rather light a candle than curse your darkness.

Might seem like a dumb question, but anyone out there use their egg to reverse a steak, and then their blackstone to sear? I've been considering a blackstone, but I'm trying to justify how much I would actually use it, given my cooking habits and what I normally cook.Ajax, ON Canada(XL BGE, MED BGE, La Caja China #2, and the wife's Napoleon gasser)

@bweekes not a dumb question. I have seared tuna on mine, but for steaks I SV then cast iron on the induction eye. No reason you couldn't do it in the BS. It gets plenty hot.
-
Gotcha @theyolksonyou . I use my cast iron griddle to sear my steaks now, but I find it produces inconsistent sear results. Sometimes the butter gets too hot and starts to smoke, sometimes not hot enough, etc. One of my recent struggles has been to find the perfect oil/butter to use for searing on my cast iron (i.e., one with a high smoke point, but with good flavour). Any insights or lessons learned would be appreciated.theyolksonyou said:@bweekes not a dumb question. I have seared tuna on mine, but for steaks I SV then cast iron on the induction eye.
