Lift bands

Had a warrantee issue with my 20 year old large egg. Big Green egg was great. I had to replace the base.  Decided that it would be a good time to replace the original lift bands. I had the bands which locked when the egg was open. It appears that the old dome is slightly smaller than the new base. When tightening the upper band the ends came together before the bolt bent. It seems tight. Cooked on it yesterday no obvious problems. Is this something I should be concerned about?

    Maybe ...

    I would suggest calling the home office and discussing your observations with them ... maybe have some pics readily available to e-mail while you're on the phone.  Having the dome fall off when you open it would be especially bad if it injured someone.
