Heavy Duty Foil?
toomsdpt
Posts: 141
I bought the Heavy Duty Aluminun Foil by Reynolds for when I did my Ribs last time. I know its a stupid question but does heavy duty mean the foil is just wider or does it mean it is thicker? My last rib attempt i used the heavy duty and had sub par success during the foil steaming stage and im wondering now if it had anything to do with the FOil being used?

toomsdpt,
AFAIK, HDAF means that the foil is thicker. I've seen HDAF in both the short and long tubes.[p]TNW

The Naked Whiz,[p]Hey whiz, does this have an effect on the Foiling staff if the Foil is thicker?

toomsdpt,
i meant stage

toomsdpt,
when you did the foiling stage, did you use cold liquid, warm, or hot. that could effect the time needed in foil. i would say to warm it up first. i dont think that the thickness of the foil would matter much, some use those thick foil pans

toomsdpt,
my ribs poking holes through the foil and allowing the liquids to leak out.....wonder if the extra think foil will help any here????
-
toomsdpt,[p]Don't know why it would. You are effectively steaming the ribs when foiled - as long as the liquid gets hot enough to steam, it doesn't matter what you wrap them in. A benefit of heavy foil is that the bones are less likely to tear the foil and let the liquid out.

GenesGrill,[p]the heavy duty stuff worked great in terms of the ribs not breaking the foil. not a problem at all

<p />GenesGrill,

I use an aluminum pan with HD Foil on top.[p]Mike

Car Wash Mike,
good idea! My only problem is find a pan long enough for the ribs or just cut them like you did.....

Car Wash Mike,[p]you are a genius[p]never even considered
