    Good for him!

I've watched two of my uncles grapple (it wasn't called noodling in my area) in a pond before, but never done it personally.  They used to go out on the Yadkin River and do that as well.  Pretty crazy stuff.

Closest I came to that was a guy took me frog gigging.  I'd been before, but met him at the first pond, and there was no boat.  I said, "you have a boat?".  He said "nope, we wade in the water to gig them".  I didn't want to gig a frog at all, I was looking for snakes the entire time.  My azz out in the middle of a pond at midnight.  I should have known when he said "wear old shoes".
LOL - as a kid back in the early '50s a buddy and I saved our allowances for a couple weeks so we could both buy a .59 cent 3 prong frog gig. We mounted them on the ends of old broom stick handles. That summer we gigged many frogs, but always from the bank even though we both slipped several times and got muddy and soaked! My buddy joined the dead frog society years ago, but I still have fond memories...isn't that what living is about?

My buddy claimed coming at them from the water instead of the bank works better. We, well he, did pretty well.

It's illegal to noodle in Iowa b/c when they trench in like that it's a mom trying to lay eggs.

Never seen a pond or river short on catfish, but I get the sentiment.

I'm not a legislator nor a lobbyist - no opinion on the law, just trying to contribute to the thread - personally I'm a walleye fan!

LOL - you are correct - here in Illinois any pot hole wider than 5 feet is full of bull heads for sure!

Bullheads are all I caught as a kid.  Is there a species difference between them and cats?

When I was working on one of the top clubs in my city as a young chef, his "posturing" is real. Kitchen work is and can be like his shows. Being scolded like a 3 year old was common practice. It made you better. It made you want to succeed.

Agreed.  The bartending gig I worked, the chef of IA Machine Shed was the same to his staff.  It's a high stress environment.  He never acted that way to me, as head bartender, but I witnessed some serious ass reamings.

There is a full blown chef from Chicago who frequents the Sterling Eggfest.  Dude fits the chef mold perfectly.  He rolled up, started opening eggs, getting in your face.  He watched me like a hawk, from dough opening to finishing slices on a pie.  I actually enjoyed his company, and at the end he was raving about my pie.  It was epic. Lol

No, he wasn't around too long, maybe an hr.
Pale skin, black hair was pulled back.
You knew he was a chef, before he proclaimed it.
