Fathers Day Help

On June 10th I married my best friend in St Pete Beach. With that now, my family has doubled! Now I need to squeeze 5 racks a ribs on a Large.. is this doable? Thanks for the help everyone! I do have the AR, but not with Ovals.

Do you have a plate setter? Legs up, then rig. I don't see why you could not squeeze 5 racks on there with the rig.

Congrats on the marriage and family! Thats awesome. 5 racks are definitely possible. An egger has done 20 racks on the large in the past. I'd try using a ribrack at first. Let them shrink up a little and than lay flat if you can get a couple levels on the adjustable rig.

Yeah, it'll be tight, but doable.

Two racks on lower level, then 3 on top with a rib rack, or I've strategically skewered racks together with bamboo skewers in a pinch, to allow them to rest on their sides without touching.

A little tricky, and a PITA at first, but you only have to deal with them at the beginning, after you rub them down.

Another option, I have coiled/spiraled rubbed racks on the 18 WSM and small egg to fit with a single skewer through them to hold the spiral in place.  Roll up loose enough where the sides of the rib do not touch.  Not as cool presentation wise, but you cannot tell a difference once it hits the plates.  And three racks will fit on a 18" grid.

One more tip is to just use a big piece of foil or a foil pan to increase the indirect area in lieu of the oval stones.   This is a dollar store foil pan lined with a foil "hammock". It works quite well for indirect.  I try to crimp the foil so it is not resting on the bottom so there is an air gap between the pan and the foil.
