Egg Carten heat barrier

What are you guys using for a heat barrier, absorber?

Trying to keep it as light as possible.  I have two BGE feet I found in a drawer.  Could try hitting up my dealer to see if they are still available to make three.
Guess a stone would work, but love how this thing is so light, yet sturdy.  It's a shame Scott quit making the Cartens.  Well worth $200 IMO.  And I've built a much heavier one for a lot cheaper.

Thanks in advance.

Just talking outloud. The Ceramic Grill store offers these, not the BGE version. But their version. Fyi.

Thanks, will keep this in mind.
The red Joe feet would be cool.

Try a google search for silicone pads.
If you can find a good heavy one, you can just put it in the carrier, and set the egg on it.

    Thanks.
I thought about that, but I can barely recall someone melting a silicone pad when the Cartens first came out.  @Mickey maybe?

You will notice two ($$$) pads. The thicker was $50+ and rage thinner was $40+.
They were very specific high heat types. Burnt the crap out of one not thinking it would burn. Ended up with feet and all works fine now. When traveling I just pull the feet and it has the silicone to ride on.

Thanks buddy.  Good idea softening the ride.  May have to use foam, or a layered towel.

Is there much side to side shift during transport?

Pete, that would be great!  Thanks much my friend.  We will see you guys in a couple of weeks.  I can get it, and a couple of other things I'm sure, at the fest.

You will burn the hell out of the towel.

Should have read till the end. No on side to side during transport.
The Mini gets lots more miles than the Mini-Max.

I use 3 hockey pucks, the kid behind me plays hockey and practices every day, luck me he misses 1 every 100 shots or so. 5 minutes in the woods and I have 6 pucks. I leave 3 in the Rv and 3 in my car. just enough height so I don't melt my table.

I would not use the towel with a hot egg, only for transport.  Removing it to cook.

This nomex pad has merit.  I used extra nomex on the feet and rim of the carrier I built.  Thanks @Hotch

I have cooked directly on a plastic table with very little issues. It warped the table a little once when I kept the mini over 500 for a half hour. Even a tiny gap you will be fine the feet would be more than enough.

Thanks @Lit, good to know.  Cook on the tailgate or campground picnic tables quite a bit.  Better safe, than sorry.

Go to Lowe's or Home Depot and buy some ceramic pot feet. They will not be green, but they will work great as replacements.
