An older and a goodie egg. Little vintage Mini

I aquired this little egg. Does anybody have an idea when this made, around the time. Does  BGEs' have 'generations' based on design changes. You can see, it hasnt been used. I am waiting for all the interanl parts to show up from the mothership. Cant wait to see what I can on this. Any Mods or cooking ideas would be a great help too! Thanks in advance.

3 observations; I bought my Mini in July, 2005. By then they had switched to just one scizzor hinge on the side instead of on each side and also had switched from the black painted vent to stainless. OTOH that bale-style handle was still in use, but that plastic faced thermometer was the generation put in use in 2001.

Great find. I'd get a late model nest or mini carrier for it.

You can see mine in the background in the new mini carrier.

You asked about modifications. I never liked how that bale handle when it gets worn just a little would drop down and get really hot. So what I did was to bend a piece of strap steel and bolt it into the holes where the old one pivoted.

That's a Maxi-Mini right? He is asking about an original Mini.

One other big hint.. The fire grate is all ceramic. not steel.

Go ahead and replace it now - the old ceramic style were fire chokers! Like you can see in my picture mine already had a metal charcoal grate. BTW my L, M and S all had those ceramic grates and those eggs were purchased in 2000 and 2001. I still think your Mini may have been late 1990's.

@RRP nope, that's a mini . The carrier retails for around $70 for a mini.
