anyone use the Pampered chef Rockcrok Grill Stone with their Egg?  I don't know about it costing $80, but it seems like a good ask for Father's Day. Thoughts?

I hear the pampered chef stones are prone to breakage in the egg. I would just get the BGE one.

That does look pretty nice but I agree it is a little pricey.  It looks like similar dimensions to this:

...and the CI for sure won't crack.

Which came first the chicken or the egg?  I egged the chicken and then I ate his leg.

Thoughts?  What would you use it for? What are you cooking or want to cook that this would be the proper dish for?  Seems expensive unless it actually serves a need you have.  I can think of other things that that would be better general things to have - but you may already have them.  Its main selling point is being able to use it in your microwave, oven and freezer. Maybe a good item around the kitchen, put not sure of its functionality for the egg.

If you are thinking of this for pizza, I would pass. Other things would be better (and less costly).

In cooking, often we implement steps for which we have no explanations other than ‘that’s what everybody else does’ or ‘that’s what I have been told.’  Dare to think for yourself.

    Of course it will.

As mentioned, Pampered Chef stones are often reported to crack when used on the egg. BGE stone is about $50 (14"), Emile Henry is $60. Both work well on the egg. Generic cordierite as well (5/8" thickness). I like my 1/4" steel plate though I have never used it on my egg. $12 from a steel yard scraps/cutoffs pile or the commercial Baking Steel for about $80-90 depending on size. Steel plate is the only one that won't break.

I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!
