Looks awesome!  Why are you getting rid of the MBGE?  I would like one to go with my XL to cook on during the week and when I have overflow for big cooks.

I sold my medium to fund the large. I have a minimax also.

Like you, I sold a Med to go Large, and am also considering adding a Mini Max. What do you think of the combo? Any regrets about saying goodbye to the Med?

I'm very happy with my choice! Big hams, briskets, birds and more room to venture into cast iron and future joetisserie. I had my medium dialed in solid and the large is even easier to dial in for me. Went 11 hrs at 250° on this brisket (layed flat not folded like the mbge) and barely made a dent in the lump. Now I'm left with a full load for the next cook. Don't have to worry as much about ends overhanging and getting torched either. Mini max is well used also.

Thanks. Do you find the Mini Max big enough such that it's not problematic for the average cook?

For me...it works. 650° steaks, taters, vegetables, chicken, burgers, meatloaf...corn on the cob....you should get my point with those listed.  =) Family of 4 also
  • Thanks. Just what I wanted to hear. Def picking up the Large, and very tempted to get the MM as well!

I have the large MM combo and love it also, large is mostly for large weekend  cooks, managed a 7lb Boston butt as my 3rd MM cook while vacationing away from home, held stable for almost 8 hours, but it's better for small weeknight hot and fast, but very versatile combo for sure.

@clifkincaid very nice looking brisket there, what grade was it and how large? My first and only was 17ish lbs and I had to arch it at first over a rib rack.

It was just a walmart 14lb pre trimmed...but It was super limp when I searched through them. For 30$ I'd figure what the heck I'll try it. I'll be damned it is pretty dang good. Our Costco for some reason never has packers just flats.
