Just got done changing the headlight bulbs in my wife's 2011 Tahoe.
I'd like to have a word or two with the engineers responsible for that mess, what a PITA.They/Them

Agree what stupid designs on cars. I changed our 4Runner headlights to the sylvania silver star ultras and had to take half the wheel well out to get to the bulbs.DMW said:Just got done changing the headlight bulbs in my wife's 2011 Tahoe.

Be prepared to it again soon. The life on those bulbs is roughly 90% less than standard bulbs.Lit said:

We've got a new suburu in the shop right now. In order to unbolt the roof rack, the everything inside has to come out except the front seats and dash! When vehicles are designed, they're designed to go together quick, and they could care less how they come apart.Slumming it in Aiken, SC.

I did it a year and a half ago and changed all 4 lights to them and they are all still good. I read a lot about them before I installed them you have to make sure you wear gloves when you install them the oils from your hands kill them. They are the best headlights ever they made a huge difference.DoubleEgger said:

The life expectancy according to the package was about 90 hours +/- vs the standard bulb at +/ 900 hours. I was astounded at the difference when I was reading the packages at autozoneLit said:

There were complaints about the life of the lights. Even at 90 hours we aren't sober enough to drive much at night so we will get several years out of them. That's a pretty crappy life expectancy though but they really do put out a lot more light.DoubleEgger said:

Changed a taillight on my 97 Taco a month or so ago. 3 or 4 screws, 10 minutes all tightened and sealed.
Why I love older cars, and holding out as long as I can. I can almost climb inside the engine compartment of my Chevy. My 22RE in the Toyota isn't bad either.BrandonQuad Cities

Where's the challenge in that?
I replaced my brake fluid and coolant in my car the other day and I had to remove about 40 screws and nuts to access the coolant hoses, then had to remove one end of 4 hoses to drain. To fill, I had to remove the back deck carpet to access the engine compartment and the secondary coolant reservoir, then, using a special tool, pump all the air out of the coolant system and siphoned new coolant to the entire system, with the heater valve turned on. Car has three radiators.

That project is beyond a challenge my friend.
My friend has an older late 90s 745. Body looks nice, he blacked out the chrome, has sharp stock rims. But the issues he's having are unreal. He knows his way around foreigns, and has BMW mechanic buddies, with parted cars available, and is looking into a truck.
Like humans, sometimes ya gotta know when to pull the plug.BrandonQuad Cities

On the other hand, when I had to pull a head off my truck engine to replace a broken valve, I pulled the radiator, fan, etc. and did most of the job standing in the engine compartment. Saved my back.

Makes me crawling under my truck and lawnmower this evening to change oil/filter look like a Sally. Still can say that I've never let anyone else change my oil before. It's almost cheaper bringing it in and getting it done. I guess I'd rather wreck something myself I guess"The pig is an amazing animal. You feed a pig an apple and it makes bacon. Planned to spend the afternoon/evening at Meadow Creek BBQ's annual consignment auction. In reality, I spent most of the afternoon sitting in my truck on work conference calls. Which probably wasn't a bad thing, I didn't come home with much stuff I didn't need.
Just this 18" WSM. It's old, dirty, a bit weathered, but I got it for $5...
Never cooked on one before, will clean it up and see how it cooks sometime.

Enjoying a few adult beverages while getting the LBGE ready for the Sun AM brisket cook. Brisket is trimmed and ready to go-now to clean and load the BGE, check thermo cal and wait for the fun to begin. With a few more beverages, of course.Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood.
