Shrimp help please

i will start with I'm allergic to shrimp. But my woman loves them. She always sacrifices when we go to beach or out to dinner. We never go eat seafood at all even though she loves it.  My question is can you guys help me with some recipes for shrimp on the egg like temps and techniques. I have the cook figured out where I will never be in the smoke from the grill. I really want to surprise her and I have no idea how to prepare a shrimp on the grill because I never could eat them thanks.

Get a Himalayan salt block, this will avoid you using any surface of the grill if your allergy is that severe. Bring it to temp with the egg and literally just put the shrimp on the salt block with no seasoning.

Just remember, forks to the left of the plate, knife and spoon to the right, and epi pen above.
Maybe wear latex gloves when handling them.
Found out my daughter is allergic after she helped shell a bunch. Her hands were swollen and itchy. She was not a  happy camper after that.

Peeled down to the tails, skewered, a little blackened/cajun spice, on the grill until they turn white all around - about 2-3 minutes.  Don't overcook them. That is the biggest mistake when it comes to shrimp.

You could also do some bacon-wrapped, but that tends to overcook the shrimp (IMO)

If you want it done in a skillet, a little EVOO, black olives, halved grape tomatoes, a bit of fresh parsley, garlic, S&P 1/4 cup of butter, 1/4 cup of white wine, bring to a simmer, throw in the shrimp - again, don't over cook them and serve over some angel hair pasta.  (this is AKA Olive Garden's Shrimp Scampi)

Another great technique is shelled raw shrimp not bigger than 21/25 skewered and coated with a bit of oil and creole seasoning (Tony Chachere's works good) and grilled direct at a high temp (550 or so) for a couple minutes per side.  Make sure not to overcook!  Good luck!

everyone loves green lightening, and I need to give that one a try.

An old crowd pleaser is skewered shrimp with old bay.  I almost always tailgate with these.

I hate to say this, but I'm a little nervous about a guy messing with shrimp who's allergic.  Why not take her out for shrimp and you get a steak?  Why in the world can't she chow down on all the seafood she wants at the beach or any time you go out to dinner?  Practically any seafood restaurant offers a few things for non-seafood people.  You can have whatever you want, she can have whatever she wants, and you don't have to take a chance on some sort of allergic reaction while cooking something you're allergic to.  It's a very sweet and kind idea, but the allergic part makes me nervous.

Theophan  my allergies are pretty good and we try a seafood Resteraunt and if there steamed and I'm close my throat gets tight. Went to Mexican Resteraunt and the fajitas had shrimp and the steaming of that affected me. So if I can do it at home where I'm 100% sure I can stay out of smoke I'm pretty sure everything will be fine. Thanks for concern I'm a active member in voluntary fire dept we share building with a rescue squad team and dabble in that some I ask a few questions concerning this matter and they agreed with me so I'm gonna try it. I will let all know how it turns out thanks for concerns
  • If you want to wrap your shrimp in bacon and are worried about over cooking the shrimp try what I do. I precook the bacon until it is about 1/2 way done then wrap the shrimp. Bacon gets done along with the shrimp.

I wrap them in bacon slide them on skewers along with some sweet onion and a spicy bbq sauce. Makes for great flavor when the bbq sauce caramelizes.

I agree, why risk anaphylactic shock.  One day's reaction might just be a little swelling, but a throat that swells shut is not a laughing matter.  Allergic reactions can increase in intensity with each episode.
