Should I change my username?
Thinking maybe I should consider changing my username from Webass to Dumbass.
Yesterday I did a small brisket. Got the egg stabilized at 250 with my DigiQ, put the brisket on with the food probe in, and set for 195. Took the dog for a walk and ran an errand. Came back a couple hours later and the food probe was reading 62. I thought WTF? Reinserted the probe and waited about 15 minutes and it was still reading 62. Cranked up the DigiQ to 275 with no change in temp. Still a steady 62. I then thought perhaps I might want to check the food probe connection with the DigiQ. Gave it a little push, heard a distinct "click," and the food temp went to 157 in a matter of seconds!
I didn't tell anyone what I had done but thought I'd share it here under the cloak of a degree of anonymity.

The answer is a Thermapen. Whenever you disbelieve the constant read thermo, get out your instant read and double check. That's how I do it anyway. When my constant read says I'm done, I pull out my Thermapen to double check.
edit: How did it turn out?Flint, Michigan -
You'll have to settle for "Dumbass 2", I did that last summer.

I have a cyberq and once during an overnight cook I found the next morning I had forgot to plug the fan into the control box...luckily the egg did its job and the temp was still stable so nothing lostMaking the neighbors jealous in Pleasant Hill, Ia one cook at a time...

Hey, just a reality check... I would bet you'll never make that mistake again.
I did a pizza this past summer (brainfadepizza) and put the pie directly on the on the P/S, not elevated. Needless to say, a tad burned. Actually looked like the charcoal. I mention all of this, because up until this point I baked several pies that were perfect. Since then, several more, and done correctly.
