Heat Controller / Heat Monitor

Hey All,
I need some advice. I started out with a Maverick ET732. It worked, sometimes.
About 20 months ago, July 2014, I bought a Digiq DX2 and it was GREAT. I used it frequently and it never failed during the first 14 months. But, since September 2015, I've gone through about 4 sets of probes and now the controller itself no longer works (no light, tried several electrical sources).
The company says it is excessive heat from flare-ups that causes my problems, yet I am doing nothing different that I did the first year. I never use the Digiq even close to 500°F. I wrap the probe ends in aluminum foil; I thread probes through the top vent; and I keep them away from the gap where the fire can be seen.
Sorry for the venting, but I am very frustrated. I've had it with the Digiq too. Is there another more reliable heat monitor you can recommend for a large BGE?
I appreciate your help.
Thank you.

You could have put the probes in hot lava and it should not have done anything to the control head. Doesn't surprise me with the customer service.

BBQ Guru....there customer service sucks....they will never get another dimension from me. FlameBoss or Auber if you only want a pit controller...

Dime....stupid phone

I have to say that I am not displeased with their customer service. In fact, they have been good to me.

Yet they tell you that the problem is caused by something that you know is not taking place? I don't have a DigiQ and have never dealt with the company, so I have no opinion on their customer service. I just thought from your post that they were not providing satisfactory answers to your problem.Eggscalibur said:I have to say that I am not displeased with their customer service. Look at the Flame Boss 100 for a direct replacement to the DigiQ ... or the 200 unit for wifi control. If you need it, their service support will leave you with a smile ... and a thought that "that's how service support should work."

Well I can tell you that I have the Maverick ET732 and it works like a charm. Their customer service is outstanding. I had one probe die on me and I gave them a call and stated what happened and the lady on the other end took my information down and said "we are sending you two new probes at no cost". I expected to pay for them as it was my fault but they sent me two longer probes that work awesome. That is the only issue I have had with the Maverick in the last 4 years.XLBGE, MMBGE, CyberQ
