The bag in the photo indicates 17.63 lb.

Will be heading to Walmart tomorrow to pick up 6 bags, if on sale. Price per pound makes it great deal.

Picked up (9) 18#ers a@ $10 ("everyday low price") and one Cowboy 20#er at $11 ("on sale").
    Question:
At those prices being (almost) equal...should I have picked up some more Cowboy..or is one markedly better than the other?

I think RO is superior to cowboy for sure.

Yes RO is better. I'm good for awhile.

Man that's a lot of weight on those joists, be careful.  I've seen the stringers/webbing pop out of the tack plates before.  Usually it's from roofers that set a few thousand pounds of shingles on the roof, but seen it from over loading joists too.

I went to WallyWorld today and what did I find??? Absolutely nothing.  Not a stick of ROL anywhere in the store. Tweeted to walmart. We'll see how that goes.

Thanks for the advice. Not sure why the $10 RO sign said "everyday low price"..yet I have no idea how they display sale items The Cowboy lump clearly stated the original (13 something?) and sale price.

Did you get the briquettes? The briquettes were on saw with a sign at my store the lump was not marked on sale but was.

The best Walmart sells RO for in Jacksonville is a hair under .75 a pound. The deal in Augusta beats that price by almost .20 a pound. If I could get lump that cheap, my attic would look no different than yours. I'd be proud to call myself a hoarder. Hoping that deal is still being offered in Georgia; will be in Atlanta later this week.

It was the lump, marked the same and glad that it is a deal. Kicking myself for not researching this sale or knowing that Walmart sold it after buying several of the smaller straw/green color Menard bags for but a buck off (looks like their flavored wood shavings are of better quality as well).

The 18 lb. bags here are $20.85. Yikes! However one of the three WM here has the 8 lb. bags for $5 so I will latch on to a few of those. All three stores in town have different prices on the smaller bags, but all are the same on the 18 lb.ers. Maybe next week?

Unless things have changed, several lbs of Cowboy brand will be rock.....

I'll have to check my Walmart, wasn't on sale the other day and really don't need any right now but won't pass up a deal!!!

    @Lit , man I love that enthusiasm!

Okay, I have to ask, as I have used all three brands pictured...  How do you choose what lump you're going to use?  Just curious your preferred cooks for the Fogo, OO and RO.

    Thanks!

I use RO on almost everything. Save the OO for chicken breast, pork tenderloins and bread usually but will use the RO if I'm to lazy to go up and get a bag. I've been trying to save the FOGO for longer cooks in the mini and MM sense it's more dense and burns longer for the area it takes up. I believe someone posted the other day their mini held 250 plus for 12 hours using fogo which is crazy. Fogo is so expensive now though I doubt I will get anymore unless I hit a good sale again.

I'm good on lump now. Picked up 13 bags of RO from Walmart and had 6 bags of Fogo delivered today. Already had a few hundred pounds in the stash.

I wouldn't consider hoarding that much lump, because I wouldn't want to schlep it up and down from the attic.

I have no idea what that $10/18lb. RO goes for regularly around here..yet if nobody can tell me that the much smaller Menards version (green/straw color) is any different at (the best) $6/tiny bag? ..I just became a lump hoarder by no fault of my own (yes..that's what they all say).
