CI Cooking Grate

Thanks to the Eggs fantastic warranty program all I had to buy was a new dome and bands and I now have a second XL. It is comprised of a cracked base, firebox and ring. Wanted the higher dome so I bought one. Will be making a fire grate here sometime soon for both of them. But I am in need of another cooking grate. Was in the Egg dealer the other day and seen there version. Been doing a bit of searching and stumbled on....http://www.cast-iron-grate.com/http-www-cast-iron-grate-com-grids-for-bge-and-kamados-xl-eggs-html.html...
Pros/cons?
I'm a bit concerned with CI rusting. I don't use the XL Eggs all that often. Is rust something to be concerned with? Or is it nothing to be concerned with once I use the grate a few times?
So fine folks....please educate me....
Thanks in advance for your help...

I have the CI grate from BGE. It's a rusty hunk of CI.
I don't recommend it. I'm sure if you are willing to take tender care with it you can prevent the rust. High temp cooking is hard on CI.
If I wanted to get a grid upgrade I would consider this:
http://www.amazon.com/Luxury-Stainless-Cooking-Large-Green/dp/B007XNQFAG
They make them for XL BGE's also.
My CI grate is free to a good home to anyone near central AL. -
I basically use my cast iron grate for all my cooks. I dont do a lot of nuclear cooks like pizza so maybe thats why I have had no problems. Mine stays in my egg and its as black as can be. Nicely seasoned. All I ever do is scrape off the gunk with the ash tool or sometimes a ball of foil. And its the BGE version CI grate.
