Jerk Chicken & Hot Sausage Pepperoni Deep Dish Pizzas

Ever since visiting Chicago last month and enjoying some deep dish I've had an itch for some on the egg. So yesterday was the day. I woke up and made some scratch dough.

A few pics of rolling the dough. Extra butter!!!

The first deep dish consisted of: Mozzarella cheese, hot sausage, sautéed onions, sautéed mushrooms, fresh basil, and pepperoni

The 2nd deep dish pizza consisted of: Mozzarella cheese, shredded jerk chicken, sautéed onions, sautéed peppers, topped with caribbean jerk barbecue sauce.

Sauced:

We brought everything up to my parents place for dinner since we brought our 2 year old and 4 year old nieces along. I used my parents egg for the pizzas. A few pics:

Finished pics:

We made a small cheese and pepperoni calzone for the nieces to split since I thought the hot sausage might be too much and I had extra scrap dough. The 4 year old ate her small calzone and ate a slice of the hot sausage deep dish! She ate it like a champ! I have to admit, the za hit the spot! Especially the jerk chicken. Officially stuffed!

That's beautiful. Of course, it's not pizza. But I'd hit it over and over again.It's a 302 thing . . .

My wife is making me start a low carb diet so I am really wishing I didn't click this thread. Those look incredible. I will cook these and report back when I have either lost 10 lbs or given up.Which came first the chicken or the egg? I egged the chicken and then I ate his leg.

Your team of choice is a good one and the pizza looks awesome. We love pizza on the BGE, but I have not gotten around to attempting a deep dish yet. That will need to change soon. Thanks for posting.Stillwater, MN

Thanks @StillH2OEgger Go for it! Just yell if you want the recipe. The dough is super simple and I hate working with dough. Not too much more work than any other scratch pizzaStillH2OEgger said:Your team of choice is a good one and the pizza looks awesome. Jon Stewart has said it all in his definitive rant on the subject. I couldn't do it justice. And I mean absolutely no disrespect by saying it's not pizza -- the pix make my mouth water and I bet it tasted even better than it looks. It's just not pizza.WeberWho said:

OK, PSA time: you gotta get to the 4:00 mark in the clip, but here it is.
