Turbo just went nuclear

I'm cooking a pork butt turbo today. I was having trouble getting the temp to 350, it just kept hovering around 300. So after a couple of hours I slid the daisy wheel wide open and jumped on a conference call. 20 minutes later....nuked!
I have been using WIcked Good lump for the last few cooks and it seems to burn at a much lower temp than the BGE lump. Has anyone else experienced this?

Any time you add more air flow to a well established fire the temp will spike. Don't think it had much to do with the lump. Would have easily happened to anyone that goes from barely open to full air flow.

When I was a noob, I chased a temp by opening the vents. Then I got distracted. When I saw what was happening, I thought "I gotta save supper!" In my haste I didn't burp the egg.
