Just wondering, with the weaker-than-weak Canadian dollar this year, who of our American friends have plans to visit our fair nation this year?

A single US dollar gets you somewhere in the neighbourhood of 1.40 Cdn.    Yeash.  

If you are considering coming up, what are your plans?

    I'm not but it reminds me of a good chuckle at myself from years ago back in the early 70's. Here's the background: I had invested in a couple hundreds shares of stock in a Canadian brewery. When we were leaving to return home I bought 2 cases of it dirt cheap compared to our retail price. Some how we got through the border check ok, but by the time I finished the first case I decided my investment wasn't the smartest thing I ever did as that beer was horse p*ss so I sold the stock for a slight loss and then gave away the remaining case.

    The town of Banff is a tourist trap, but the area is incredible and I miss it a lot.   I used to spend every weekend there - year round.  Mountain biking in summer and skiing in winter - You'll love it.  You'll see scenery and mountain lakes that will blow your mind.

    I live close to Banff and can confirm that it's a great place to visit. I think we go probably 30-40 times per year, also Waterton is a hidden gem

    Thinking about it in August in celebration of our 30th wedding aniversary......assuming we make it. Thinking about Banff area.

    @northGAcock if your going to banff, check out a restaurant  called "The Grizzly House" . They have a hot rock fondue, we really enjoyed it. There are different sections of wild meat for the fondue, bison, elk, venison, etc. Give it a whirl. :)

    Beautiful pics (all of them).  Lots of those places pictured are close to my backyard.  2-3 hours away mostly.  Even though I live close by, every time I venture into the parks (Banff, Jasper, Yoho, etc) the surroundings take my breathe away.

    If you haven't been, pictures don't do it justice.  Lots to see for sure.  

    ...And this year until further notice, all this comes at a 40% discount for our friends to the south.

    last time i visited canada, our tour guide blew a tire (among other things), and we almost were killed.  then he tauntingly drove around a port-a-john in circles, in close proximity, for a half hour , as my descending colon was cramping and screaming for release; this harrowing pain a result of an impacted bolus created of some cheesed-up gravy-covered french fries.

    at night, a small drunken racoon would ransack the cooler and try to get into bed with each of us.

    then we were served what was referred to as "indian food" off of stainless steel prison trays.  i never thought i would see daylight again. i genuinely feared for my life (and orifices).

    fishing was good though.

    (so was the indian food, truth be told)

    Is it possible tripping out on something and weren't even in Canada?  Sounds like a scene from a weird John Waters film.

    Tour guide?   There's your problem right there.   We urge our US friends to experience our fair country outside of the canned version...especially those who can afford to pay for tours (aka "flush with cash").
