OT: Breckenridge, CO

We have a group going to Breckenridge the first week of February, we are staying a block off of Main Street, does anyone have any restaurant recommendations for a nice dinner? It doesn't necessarily have to be on Main Street (we will not have a rental car) but somewhere in the vicinity. Price is not a huge issue, only say that because someone will ask what price range I want to stay within. Open to all suggestions.

Thank you,
Birmingham, AL

It has been a many years but one place I always like to go is Erics (Downstairs at Erics).  This is a very laid back Sports Bar but they have great pizza.  The only other place I can remember is Breckenridge Brewery.  Every time I have gone it was a group of guys and we didn't eat anywhere too fancy.  We usually just walked around the village and found the place with the best beer specials and ended up eating there.

It is funny I was just looking for a place to stay in Breck and pricing out lift tickets.  Lift tickets are really pricey this year.  It is like $520 for a 4 day ticket.  Lodging is pretty $$$ too so I might not get to eat this trip.

Which came first the chicken or the egg?  I egged the chicken and then I ate his leg.

Yea, we would go growing up all the time and now that I am paying for this trip I had no idea what my dad was having to fork out for four of us to go. We got an early jump on booking a place, they were actually running a deal where you book three nights you get the fourth free, further you could order lift tickets from them (3-day) that were discounted, good luck searching and thanks for the suggestions.

  • It's been a few years since I've been there, but my favorite place hands down was Angel's Hollow. It is laid-back, casual atmosphere. All food is fresh, made on site. Good food, good atmosphere, good times!
I'm jelly thinking about your trip to Breck. We've been going to Park City Utah area lately due to lower elevation, and easier transportation. I would love to get back to Breckenridge sometime soon.
    Enjoy your trip!

Breck is a great town.  Just make sure you hit the little crepe stand downtown some night.  Makes a nice after-bar snack or desert on your way back from a restaurant.

Order at the window.  You are dressed warm anyway but they usually have a little fire lit to keep you warm.  Hope it's still there!

    Thanks everyone, keep them coming.

  • I'll second downstairs at Erics and the crepe stand. We usually go to mi casa a Mexican restraunt as well overlooking the small lake off main street.

  • I live in Denver and have eaten in Breck many times. I would recommend Briar Rose if you're looking for steaks with a killer wine list. Relish is also a great place to eat for more modern-American style fare, with a great beer list. You can't go wrong with Eric's, but you might not be able to get a table without a reservation. If you're looking for a good dive bar to grab a drink after dinner, check out the Gold Pan. They usually have live music on weekends.

Not fancy... But Breckinridge brewery... Best cheese fries you'll ever eat. Period. There is a nice restaurant right behind Main Street. It's in a house all decorated with Christmas lights. Can't miss it... But seriously the brewery.. Cheese fries....

Thank you all, @Mantoothian do you know anything about Hearthstone, we continue to hear that name and Briar Rose more than any. And thanks @BigGreenHog just looked at the menu, I love a good burger and a pint so will definitely be going there.

I sell vacations to Breckenridge! Where are you staying? Need lift tickets? We have some great deals if you are interested. For restaurants, check out www.skitownrestaurants.com. So many to choose from. Downstairs at erics is a great family place. The Breck Brewery makes some pretty good food. Drinker? Get a marg at Mi Casa (food is not great).

@busmania we are staying at Sawmill Creek condominiums, we wanted something that was convenient to both the slopes and downtown. We were able to get three discounted three-day lift tickets through our booking, still looking for three two-day tickets, they will probably just get those when we get there (they are doing ski school the first day). We are definitely drinkers and the brewery is right up our alley. Again, thank you all for the recommendations, I have been passing them along to the group.

@Thatgrimguy I am curious to see what that is going to be like, I am just imagining skiing looking to my right or left and some guy with the biggest grin on his face smoking a joint. @busmania we booked through Ski Country Resorts.

  • @stonewh I've never been to Hearthstone, but Briar Rose is worth checking out, for sure. It's a kind of old-timey western style steakhouse.

You won't notice any difference than pre legalization.  I have been two colorado twice since and nothing really has changed.  Unless you partake, and well that's definitely different than pre legalization.

Awesome, they are great. I have worked with ski country for years. @Dawgs8033 feel free to send me an email. We work with almost all of the professionally managed properties in most major ski resorts. I am always happy to offer ski advice as I have skied a lot of the resorts. I live in Colorado but know the entire rocky mountain region well. I like to tell people because I work with most property managers, I offer an unbiased opinion on lodging and will really push you towards what works...not limited inventory (like ifyouw ent to one property manager only). We do not charge for our service and all of our rates are identical as if you were to book directly with a property manager. To clarify...I simply work at vacationroost...I do not own it. Wish I did! matt@vacationroost.com

Breck is a great mountain. I was there in February. It's a great pedestrian town so not having a car is no trouble. Breck Brewery is great, gets real busy. Also try Empire Burger if you're looking for a good burger. All the places we went to had great local beer selection (if that's what you're into). Had a blast on the mountain as well. A lot of nice long runs.

That's so cool you can track your skiing like that now. Last year, two of my coworkers did the EPIC run. We skied Keystone, Abasin, Breckenridge, vail, beaver creek and Park City Utah all o the same day. Was fun. Wish we had tracked it like that! http://blog.mountainreservations.com/2015/08/31/3-men-2-states-6-mountains-1-epic-run/

That sounds like an awesome day! Yea, the GPS tracking is really cool especially that it tracks your top speed.
