Starting Charcoal

I read several comments a while back about a torch used to start charcoal. I thought it came from Harbor Freight but not sure. Will appreciate comments on name of it and where to buy.

The TS 8000 is also awesome, I have two of them also.

Another option is the BernzOmatic Lawn and Garden Handheld Torch Head or similar product - uses the small propane bottles which I find more convenient than hooking up weed burners to the larger tanks.Southeast Florida - LBGE
In cooking, often we implement steps for which we have no explanations other than ‘that’s what everybody else does’ or ‘that’s what I have been told.’ Dare to think for yourself. -
the 18.99 one jupiter jim posted is the one, mines maybe 14 years old now and still works. you need a lighter to light it and theres no need to pull that trigger lighting an egg. if you do, sunglasses and a hat are a must

I think I worried needlessly about inverting the mapp tank and went with this. I do enjoy the built in starter.

If you go the mapp route, you need the mapp torch head because it works well when inverted. However, standard propane is fine for fuel, at a fraction of the cost of mapp gas.
I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

Thanks to all for your feedback. Now I'll have to make a decision.

ive had several torches and have the weedburner, but the oil and napkin trick is still my go to method, it just takes a small amount of practice to get it down. this isnt rocket science and spending money is not really necessary even though some will push all sorts of methods. the napkin is faster than a mapp torch, slower than the weedburner, yet takes less actual time standing over the fire trying to light itBuckbill said:Thanks to all for your feedback.
