Prime Rib Roast Size

First up-welcome aboard and enjoy the journey. I don't know the answer to your question but if you figure around 3/4 LB/person you are looking at around a 15 lb roast. I would visit your local butcher and eye-ball a roast about that size and get the length. Then translate that back to your cooking surface on the LBGE. If the length extends beyond your heat-deflector then make sure to foil protect the overhanging grate surface. FWIW-Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. Life is too short for light/lite beer! Seems I'm livin in a transitional period. CHEETO (aka Agent Orange) makes Nixon look like a saint.

Thank you so much loussubcap. Does anyone know if I can fit 15-16lbs of prime rib on a LBGE??

Yes, you can without a problem. Have fun and happy new year!Sandy Springs & Dawsonville Ga

that's about a 7-rib roast, which is as big as they come. You would have to cut it in half to make it fit in a large.Dave - Austin, TX

The amount needed for 20 people will vary. 20 beef eating men will need 20+ pounds. 10 couples is probably more like 15 pounds or less. Add in children and that goes down.
Are you buying a rib roast with bone or boneless. 'Prime' is very expensive and not always available. When at the store check out the Choice. Pick them up and look at them. See if you can find one that has lots of marbling. A good Choice rib roast will make a great meal.

No doubt...I had a hard enough time paying fer a 4.2 lb'r to feed 4, can't imagine having to feed 20...may have to take a 2nd mortgage!!! Publix is usually purty good about their cuts of meats...Mikee said:The amount needed for 20 people will vary. 20 beef eating men will need 20+ pounds. 10 couples is probably more like 15 pounds or less.
