Need some quick Boston butt advice

I'm on my phone and can't search so if someone can point me in the right direction that'd be awesome.

Ive got a friend that wants me to do a couple of Boston butts for their Christmas dinner. I need to know what the best way to reheat them would be. Should I go ahead and pull them when their completed or leave them whole, have them heat them in the oven, then just pull before serving? If I go ahead and pull them I figured I'd put it in ziplocks and recommend putting them in a crock pot (with or without Coke?) to reheat. If I don't pull it would probably be best to put them in the oven (what temp and time?).

Whenever ive done them in the past we just eat them that night for dinner so this hasn't been an issue.

Thanks for any help everyone!

Personally, I reheat in the crock pot with a little apple juice/apple cider vinegar mix

I would leave them whole wrapped in foil. Reheat them in the oven at 200 until the internal temp is around 160 and then pull and serve.

    Coke?

I would pull, food saver and have them heat the bags in hot/boiling water

I'd pull when done.  If I'm reheating in the crock pot I'll add some chicken broth for liquid.

Seems like most are saying to go ahead and pull when they're done, ziplock (don't have a foodsaver), then throw it in the crockpot.

The only thing I don't want is for it to be dry, which it shouldn't be if they throw some sauce or something in the crockpot.

About using Coke, I saw a thread or post where someone had used it when reheatting pulled pork so I tried and liked it and haven't used anything different. Lol.

I pull mine, put them in foodsaver bags with a little apple juice/apple vinegar mix, then vacuum seal and freeze. I do small portions for ease later. Then I put the whole bag in boiling water to reheat. It's never dry and always comes out great. For something large like you want, a crock pot would work. Use a little apple juice, leave the lid on, and heat it up.

That is what I do.  Smoke over night, pull, put in zip lock freezer bags in small quantities while still warm and use when needed.

My wife always uses a couple ounces of chicken broth in the pan when reheating the frozen pork and it comes out as juicy as just pulled.

  • Using coke was tasty but did flavor the pulled pork more than i've wanted it to.
How long are we talking here between cooking and eating? If 5 or so hours, just keep wrapped as a whole in a cooler. You could probably keep it even longer but once you pull it, you're subject to the flavor added of whatever "sauce" (coke, broth, vinegar, etc) you use to keep it moist in a crockpot.

They're planning on eating them for dinner on Christmas so I assume around 6pm. I'm going to cook them sometime today/night, depending on the weather,  which would put them at around a 5 or so finish on Thursday. 24 hours may be a little too long to FTC. Lol

I have been using Coke for 9 years and never any complaint's! I have even told guest after we were done eating that I put Coke in it and they usually won't believe me.
