Strip Steak Roast

Picked up a 9+ pound strip steak roast. Planning on going indirect at 225 till its up to 125 then do a 700 deg sear for 1 min per side. Looking on advice for time per pound on the roast. Bringing it to an afternoon event for a 3pm sear time

I've done prime ribs at 20 min per pound, but this slice is much thinner

The meat is tender to begin with so you can cook at 325f to 350f and no sear will bee needed. At that temp you need about 15 min to 18bmin per pound.

Thanks. If I cut the roast in half, will I be able to use the 15-18min for time for the largest piece or is it still total poundage

I just got one too, got a great deal on it, was considering doing it as a roast, but I think I'm just going to play it safe and cut it into steaks

This video might come in handy for those of you looking to break it down into steaks:

Great video, thanks for posting. Just about to cut into a 13 lb prime strip loin I picked up at Costco today. It doesn't look quite as nice as that SRF, but they were running a special $25 off any whole strip loin making this one about $6.50/lb.THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER
