I don't want to pry, and you do not have to share, but aside from surgery, is chemo part of the protocol? radiation treatment? 

Yes, chemo is part of it. I don't know all of the specifics. Once I heard the good news, my mind kind of went blank, we went and had all the pre-op tests done right away. What I believe is that there might be individual cells that carry mutations and need to be killed. I'm not sure if they are dislodged from the tumor during surgery, or cells that might have started to spread but not formed tumors yet.

I looked it up online, and the use of adjuvant chemotherapy is controversial. What I think is that no one wants to take the chance and be the first to try NOT having it.

"Although there is some evidence to suggest that adjuvant chemotherapy may be of value, the place of adjuvant chemotherapy remains controversial and as yet no large randomised trial has conclusively demonstrated an overall survival advantage if used in addition to radiotherapy. The relative paucity of high-quality evidence and lack of level 1 evidence means that opinions are divided and recommendations must be made with caution. In order to give women with this disease the best chance of survival it is important to consider all aspects of available evidence and present a balanced view."

Her cancer hasn't been "staged" yet, and won't be until after surgery. That will tell us a whole lot more.

Radiation wasn't mentioned, probably because there wouldn't be a target after a complete hysterectomy. But my sister had uterine cancer that was a more common type, an adenocarcinoma, and she had radiation.
