This business of foil towel cooler for your faux cambro...
I had a weird idea. If your goal was to keep everything as warm as possible, and folks go so far as warming towels in the dryer and preheating coolers with hot water, why wouldn't you skip both steps and just use a well wrapped pan (with a towel) and use an old electric blanket in the cooler? Wouldn't that work just fine?
I can see it now! Haha. I guess some folks might worry about being electrocuted.

My food doesn't travel. I have folks come to me when i'm doing to the cooking!Memphis TN - Large Green Egg

Ideal process:
clean and dry cooler
put in electric blanket and extra towels to fill space
preheat cooler with electric blanket
once food its wrapped and toweled, place in cooler
keep warm til dinner time
If you did need to travel, you could just unplug it. If the faux cambro can hold temps for hours, the temp you have would hold after unplugging so you COULD go to grandma's house @tarheelmatt
Alas that's no more effort than the other process though...Memphis TN - Large Green Egg -
Seems a heating pad would work better as some are designed to be some what moisture resistant instead of a blanket.kwdickert said:My food doesn't travel. I have folks come to me when i'm doing to the cooking!
But I only need this when I need to transport food and plugging in is not an option.
If I'm in need at home it's much easier to just use the oven on low.Thank you,DarianGalveston Texas -
I like the oven too, on warm feature. Kept brisket for 6hrs+ and was excellent!------------------------------

I thought people's concern with the oven was losing moistureMemphis TN - Large Green Egg

Wrap it in foil first. No moisture loss. but a large cut like brisket or pork butt will hold for many hours in a good cooler with NO pre warming junk.kwdickert said:I thought people's concern with the oven was losing moistureThank you,DarianGalveston Texas -
The two times I have done this I have had no issues. I wrapped in foil over my paper.kwdickert said:I thought people's concern with the oven was losing moisture
I have also held in the microwave. Wrap in foil, then a towel, and place in the microwave.
I do feel that you could stand the chance of a short with the moisture with an electric blanket.------------------------------
