XL Dome Question.

This is probably a dumb question but what's the deference in the egg domes that have the letter "R" on them below "The Big Green Egg" logo? I've noticed some have it and some don't? The ones that do seem to have a cleaner glaze to me....

Now I'm interested... Hmmm

As in the trademark?

Yea.... I know what the "R" stands for... that's pretty much common sense... LOL
I just noticed this evening when I stopped by my dealer that some of the domes had it at some didn't.... the sales rep I spoke to didn't seem to know either? Just wondering what's up with that.....? -
I was at our local brewers tap room and had a lady come up next to me and ask for a Miller Lite. You never know what's going to come out of a person's mouth....Blackwidow98 said:Yea.... I know what the "R" stands for... that's pretty much common sense... LOL

I just bought 2 xl eggs but wanted unassembled which my dealer didn't have any unassembled. His old stock didn't have the R but the new stock I received did.

So no one has any input on the "R" trademark on only some of the domes?
I wonder if the ones with the "R" are newer or something?? Not like it matters.... hahaha!
Just curious....

I thought it would be something like that...bigchef1995 said:I just bought 2 xl eggs but wanted unassembled which my dealer didn't have any unassembled. His old stock didn't have the R but the new stock I received did.
The ones with the trademark symbol to me seemed to have a cleaner glaze than the ones that didn't.... probably because they were newer.
cool!
Thanks for the comment! -
Would it happen to be the new taller dome versus the old squatty one?-----------------------------------------analyze adapt overcome2008 -Large BGE. 2013- Small BGE and 2015 - Mini. Henderson, Ky.

Both of the ones I'm referring to were the new rounded style domes.Mattman3969 said:Would it happen to be the new taller dome versus the old squatty one?

I don't have a horse in this race, but logically thinking then the ones with the R are newer. Hey...why not call the Mothership tomorrow and just ask? Then please post their reply. OK?Re-gasketing the USA one yard at a time

NO...that was years ago.Mattman3969 said:Would it happen to be the new taller dome versus the old squatty one?Thank you,DarianGalveston Texas -
The new domes with the R utilize less fuel and allows for faster temperature change and thus quicker cooks. The R is the fastest.

So - all this was about some printed material and not an actual dome itself?Re-gasketing the USA one yard at a time

That was my original question.... DUMB I know... I was just curious!RRP said:So - all this was about some printed material and not an actual dome itself?
But anyway.... now I know!

No, I never called it a dumb question. I thought in your subsequent post that you said you were at a dealer shopping and they had eggs with domes that way and others that didn't .Blackwidow98 said:

It's ok.... I admit it was a dumb thing to ask. Lol
That was what I was saying though. Some of the eggs had the trademark symbol in raised letters and some didn't.
Below is a pic of one with the trademark... It serves no purpose in functionality... it just caught my eye last night that some had it and some didnt and I was curious.

My XL doesn't have it, interesting.They/Them

That is just a capital letter "R". A proper registered trademark symbol is ®.Blackwidow98 said:It's ok.... I admit it was a dumb thing to ask. Lol

I think someone just happened to drop a random letter R in a mold and nobody caught it until a few domes had been made.

My XL purchased Nov. 2013 has the same RXL BGE, 22" Weber Red Head, Fiesta Gasser .... Peoria,AZ

That's like maybe 11 years or so ago somebody drilled the dome thermometer holes down vertically instead of toward the center of the egg. That made for a weird look plus gave an incorrect temperature reading since it was reading more of a rim position. Eventually someone at the plant caught the error, but a number of them got shipped anyway.HeavyG said:

I'm 99% sure my XL is the only one at home with the trademark R"The pig is an amazing animal. You feed a pig an apple and it makes bacon. Let's see Michael Phelps do that" - Jim Gaffigan

It's limited edition and will be a collectors item in 10-15 years!
