Christmas Cook Ideas???
Wowens
Posts: 115
What are some good ideas for a Christmas dinner?? We did a Mad Max turkey for Thanksgiving, and it was good, but we just aren't fans of turkey or ham. I suggested a butt, but my wife didn't go for that.
Maybe a rib roast or prime rib?? Are they the same cut?
Toss out some good ideas for me!

Rib roast (beef) is prime rib, yes[social media disclaimer: irony and sarcasm may be used in some or all of user's posts; emoticon usage is intended to indicate moderately jocular social interaction; the comments toward users, their usernames, and the real people (living or dead) that they refer to are not intended to be adversarial in nature; those replying to this user are entering into a tacit agreement that they are real-life or social-media acquaintances and/or have agreed to or tacitly agreed to perpetrate occasional good-natured ribbing between and among themselves and others]

Normally it's a Prime Rib.XL BGE, 22" Weber Red Head, Fiesta Gasser .... Peoria,AZ -
i dont cook on christmas but have had alot of different things. ham, turkey, prime rib, beef wellington, lasagna, lobster raviolis, leg lamb, rack lamb, porkloin with cranberry rosemary stuffing, seafood chowder. my vote would be to serve the chowder, loin, and lasagna, make the chowder and assemble but not cook the lasagna a day ahead, then you only have the loin to worry about

Back in the 60's my mother declaired she was tired of prepairing the traditional holiday menue. Christmas dinner that year (and several years after), was the hippest, holiday, fondue party imaginable! In multiple fondue pots, we cooked steak, chicken, shrimp, lobster and meatballs which were eaten with the requisite dipping sauces. There were also cheese fondues with bread and vegetable dippers. As it was the 60's, the teak, spinning, salad bowl was filled with iceberg lettuce, mandarin oranges, toasted pecans and dressed with Good Seasons Italian. Vintage Gallo and Lambrusco wines flowed like water which only added to the hours of merrymaking. Dessert you ask? Grasshoppers and Brandy Alexanders!
My parents have both passed but those Christmas fondue parties are still the subject of the many fond holiday memories we cherish.
My children remain committed to the traditional rib roast for Christmas dinner. I have been able to carry on the fondue party tradition -- it's now on Valentines Day. While the 21st century has brought a much higher caliber of wine, the remainder of the menue is just as my mom created in the '60s.

I have been doing a rib roast (prime rib) the past few years and it is always a favorite. A nice bonus in the southeast is Publix has them on sale the entire month of December.Which came first the chicken or the egg? I egged the chicken and then I ate his leg.

We usually grill beef tenderloin. This year either deep fry a prime rib or we may go Wellington as all of those posts have looked great and we have a few Brits in our family that will be here this year.THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER
