One thing I was struggling with after 5-6 cooks was the opening of the vent below and daisy wheel up top. I then saw a post where people cook with one or the other but not both. I have experimented and it will help me fine tune later on but I have been leaving the daisy wheel off and just using bottom vent or vice versa. May or may not help someone. Loving the egg!!

I've done it that way for several years now. For a low and slow cook at 250°, I'll use the daisy. Otherwise, top stays wide open. Some guys NEVER use the daisy, even for the low temp cooks.
I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

My general practice is to leave the daisy wheel off and just use the lower vent. If I can't get low enough with just the lower vent then I'll put on the daisy.“Reality is that which, when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away.” ― Philip K. Diçk

I guess it depends on the egg size. My XL, I use both for anything < say 400. above 400 - topless.
