MAC Knives

Any of you guys use these? I have been looking at the MTH-80 on amazon for $144.95. Was leaning towards a Shun, but think I will go with the Max or possibly a Masamoto. Any experience you guys have with either of these brands I would be interested in hearing. Thanks!

    I had Globals and wanted to change to Shun. Didn't like the hand feel of the Shun. Went with Mac and been totally happy.

    I have the Mighty MAC (Santoku) and love it.  It gets about 90% of the knife work.  Also have a Shun Chef (10") and a Shun Alton's Angle utility knife that I also like, but don't use anywhere near as often. 


    Go to a store and try them out.  Find what is comfortable for you and that you like.  Then thank the store for their time and having items for you to try by buying from them.  Amazon is fine when you know exactly what you want.  A good price on a $150 knife that does not get used is still a waste of $150.

    I want to go ad hold each of them but I don't know of any stores close to me that carries them. Williams Sonoma shows them online I have to see what they have in the store.

    I buy my knives at restaurant supply places. Most of them have retail and if they don't they will put any company on the buyer's list. They are really good at letting you play with the knives typically. Take a couple of carrots and onions with you.
