Yeti Dishwasher Safe

Saw that somewhere and now wash in the dishwasher... no problems!

I guess RTIC is claiming their rambler is dishwasher safe....

Tea, coffee etc.

That is not boiling.

I think his point is the water is most likely below 212 in the cup.  A technicality for sure but I believe in most cases this is true.

This.  You steep at a much lower temp than boiling.  If you did steep at boiling temps, your coffee and tea would taste like tannins, be bitter, etc.  No one uses boiling temps for coffee or tea.

Did they mention if the lids are dishwasher safe?

If memory serves, boiling water is recommended for black and herbal teas.  Oolong, white and green are considerably lower.  But, in the Yeti cup, that boiling water is going to be far too hot to drink for a while.

Me too.  I pull of the rubber seal to clean it out every now and then too.  Wonder if they sell replacement seals?  Guess eventually it will get stretched out.  Bet you just have to buy a new lid.   Cross that bridge later I guess.  

I've never washed mine. Strangely, it seems to hold less and less.

I bought 4 for gifts, these things are the bomb.

Just herbal, I could see maybe,  definitely not black.

Probably need some Brits to weigh in here.  My sil is English and I know I've heard 'the water must be boiling' more than a few times.  That's for PG Tips which is black tea I believe.

My father was a mechanical design engineer working in the cold war era defense electronics industry - got there the old school way, bootstrapped from a junior draftsman position and a slide rule - no degree.  I respect the position, I just get a kick out of engineers self-identifying.  It's like the intellectual equivalent of cross-fitters.

Of course, like any group, there are some that overuse and embarrass the title.  I once had a neighbor at a homeowners association meeting ask a question about procedure on neighborhood finances and said something like "I'm not asking a financial question, I'm asking the engineering question of how this is supposed to work."  That's what I'm talking about.
