Bad day, ended on a positive note

Guys,  I had a rough start to my day.  I'm a season ticket holder to the Redskins (please hold the jokes, it's punishment enough-despite a good outing today).  I have a 3 hour drive to the stadium and to capitalize on plenty of tailgating time, i leave my house at 6am.

After stopping at wawa for coffee, fuel, etc.  I needed to top off the air in my tires. And talk about bad luck, at 6am and en route to an NFL game, my valve stem broke leaving me stranded with a flat at a gas station.

After a spewing of profanities, I got towed home by AAA.  After getting over it, I decided to not let bad luck stop the fun, so I decided to tailgate from home.

i had planned on cooking @Griffin s burger recipe and brats at the stadium, so I did., but I also stepped up the game by doing a double spatchcock with mac n cheese and corn.

Food turned out out great and my team won, so we'll count it as a win!

No spare? That stinks. At least you ate well.

@GATraveller  I have a donut, not so good for long drives or highway speeds.

@fearlesstheeggnoob I agree. Been there, done that. Not fun

That spatch looks fantastic!   Sorry about the valve stem.  That is a drag.

Donuts are definitely a temp fix for short distances. Always makes me cringe to have someone blow by me on the highway while sporting one.

Did you guys notice the recent trend that car manufacturers are starting to NOT include a spare tire on many new models?!?!   They give you a can of pressurized tar to get you home, like that's going to help with a blown sidewall or a broken valve stem.   Oh, they're doing it for "weight savings" I'm sure it has nothing to do with cost cutting...   :anguished:

Valve stems breaking has become very common. If you have tire pressure sensor it becomes expensive too .

Good finish to a bad start. Looks real good. I enjoy using the MM at home as a tailgater on game day.

If that happens to you ... save the old pieces until the replacement is proven to work.  When I had one replaced, it read 2/3 the tire pressure.  Turns out there was a product change and my part number translated to the new product ... it read the pressure wrong.  Since I was traveling, the quick solution was to pull the bad stem out of the old unit and replace with the good stem from the new unit.

Good finish to a bummer of a start. You do know that a bad accident was probably waiting for you down the road ... good karma turned you around and saved the day.  Well, that's what we say when sh!t like that happens.

Food looks great and look at it this way, you could start drinking as soon as you got home and not have to worry about driving back from the game.

My car doesn't have a spare.  A can of goo and a pump.  I can detect a slow leak with the TPI readout on the dash, anything serious it's pretty much a solution for a tow truck.  That happened to me once with a sidewall puncture. I've had a few nails, slow leaks, no problems, get home, fill up the tire and take it to the shop.
