I was thinking about smoking a turkey for Thanksgiving, but was wondering if it was worth trying? If so any tips or ideas would be great!!!
Smoke 'em if you got 'em!!!

Brine the turkey, don't go over 14# IMO. 12 pounders are ideal, if you need meat then smoke two 10 # turkeys, etc. Mild fruit wood, cherry, pecan, apple, etc. I smoke mine about 275 degrees grate temp. My dome temp is usually off by 10-20 degrees from my grate level. Also we spatchcock our turkeys and chickens, this takes an hour plus off of the cook. Once you and the family smoke a turkey, you will dread eating oven baked turkey. Lots of good info from smokers with years of experience in this thread... http://eggheadforum.com/discussion/1187812/smoked-turkey-good-or-bad/p1
