transporting the Turkey for Turkey Day...

Looks like I'm being asked to make the turkey for Thanksgiving. I plan to brine and cook a couple of breasts instead of the whole bird. Thanksgiving will be 1.5 hours away....If I time my cooking right, and FTC for the trip in the new RITC...you guys think I'll still have some fresh and tasty turkey?

i think you will be ok if you cook the bird, then monitor internal temps til they start dropping before the cooler time. skin will get sloppy. if you put a hot fully cooked bird in a cooler it will way over cook
fukahwee maineyou can lead a fish to water but you can not make him drink it -
Outstanding.....you are bringing the Turkey for Thanksgiving. I think your bird will be delicious. I'll take care of the dressing and other fixings.
On a more serious response, I do a Turkey Breast myself. My butcher gets me a boned out http://www.norbestfoodservice.com/products/07-11-boneless-foil-wrapped-turkey-breast breast which is so much easier to work with. It comes foiled, which I use to cook mine wrapped on the front end, and then open up to brown on the back side. It cooks in its natural juices. All you have to do when finished cooking is pull the foil back around the bird, place in cooler and off you go. When you get there, cut the Turkey down the middle to separate the two breast....then rotate them and make nice beautiful slices. So much easier than fighting with the bones. I know there are many that would argue the benefits of a whole bird....but this is a great option for cook and travel plan. Note, the link is not to the actual product I purchase, but you will get the idea. The foiled bird comes sealed in an outer packaged and is removed when ready to cook. If interested, and can't find one in your area, let me know. I will be getting several for myself and others.Ellijay GA with a Medium & MiniMax

They are about a 9# average and if memory servers me....about $35 bucks. You are paying for some convenience on both the cook and serve side. They come frozen so you still have a couple of days thaw you need to figure into the equation. I have not seen these in grocery stores by the way....so a butcher is your best bet locally.Ellijay GA with a Medium & MiniMax

@northGAcock I've seen the small boneless butterball turkeys at Publix....What you pick up looks to be much larger. I buy some stuff from a meat market here--but they are hit and miss on items. I'll check with them today and see if they are getting anything like that in.Augusta, GA

I have had those...trust me you will like these much better. If you can't find them, let me know....I am happy to get you one or more. I called for a more firm price this morning and they said it would be tomorrow before they would have next months prices in. I have family over in Atlanta...we will figure out how to get it to you if necessary.Ellijay GA with a Medium & MiniMax

Bring the egg and cook there. To me the skin changes fast and that's the money part.
