With the days drawing in I find more of my egg time is in the dark, and after fall back next week it'll get worse. What sort of lights have people found work well? My biggest gripe is not being able to see my thermapen, so am wondering if a head light would be the way to go. The porch lights are a little too far away to be adequate.

There is a light that attaches to the handle, it works well when the dome is open.

This one works awesome. I have it on my small and large.

I've been using this old hard hat with a LED light mounted on it for 15 years now. You can laugh all you want, but it is really bright and you know what? "IT" knows where I'm looking and is hands free to operate! Yes you can buy wimpy lights that strap on your head, but a hard hat is built for comfort!

@Mattman3969 the dimensions (Measures 13.1 x 8 x 9.7 Inch) doesn't seem to match the photo. It looks much smaller in the photo to me, but maybe just no scale or reference I guess?Mattman3969 said:This one works awesome. I have it on my small and large.

I use a headlamp and the grill light from Smokeware. Does the job.XL BGE; Medium BGE; L BGE

Those dims don't match the size of my lights. It's raining and dark here right now but I will try to get you a pic of mine in the AM.
Quick question, what size egg and if it's a large do you have the narrow or wide handle? The light was easy to install on my old bands that had the small handle after a quick couple of bends. When I put the bands that now has the wider handle I had to drill a couple of holes in the the bands to attach the light to. Not a big deal because I did it before installing the bands but not sure I would take my egg apart to install the light.-----------------------------------------analyze adapt overcome2008 -Large BGE. 2013- Small BGE and 2015 - Mini. It's that easy with the older small handle.-----------------------------------------analyze adapt overcome2008 -Large BGE. 2013- Small BGE and 2015 - Mini. Henderson, Ky.

Guess I could have been more "enlightening" why I prefer my hard hat light. While a light mounted to the handle maybe be fine - especially for eggs in nests - I have my eggs in a table - so I have work areas whereby a dome light is of little value. That's what I meant tongue in cheek about my light always knowing where I'm looking! Besides that when I'm carrying my food out or back in my powerful LEDs (7 bulbs) clearly light my path for me!

@theyolksonyou - if you had a steel plate in your head that magnet would work awesome.-----------------------------------------analyze adapt overcome2008 -Large BGE. 2013- Small BGE and 2015 - Mini. Henderson, Ky.

Okay. I typically run an extension cord and plug in a small LED shop light that is pretty bright. My egg is covered. Still, nice to see to see what others are using.

I use the flashlight on my phone

I added LED spotlights from Lowes, 2 lights per unit. 1 light for each egg and 1 for the table. Cost about $39 each, Work very well

I tapped into my low voltage landscaping lighting for my cook area. Tapped into the line, added an outdoor rated light switch that then ran to two LED spotlights that I mounted overhead at my cooking space.

+1 with @Mattman3969 and the Weber lights-however, their wing span only supports the older narrow handled BGEs. I have one on each of my BGEs and they work great.Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. Life is too short for light/lite beer! Seems I'm livin in a transitional period. @RRP we really need a pic of you egging in your hard hat!
I find squinting while you try to turn use your phone the way to go. It's very efficient and really helpful to take up one hand. You'll never drop your phone into the grill either.Pittsburgh, PA - 1 LBGE -

I got an LED flood. I like that it stays cool.
Kind of Rube Goldberg how I perch it up high but it works.

I picked up a couple of these from Lowes and have been pleased with them attached to the handles of both my Larges. They rotate, pivot, and put out a ton of light...all for $15.

I used a combination of track lights over the kitchen, rope lights all over and the fans I put in have bright lights.

Wow! Thanks for all the input. Unfortunately my egg is under open sky, so some of the solutions aren't possible. But what a great variety!

Streamlight or a tactical light if I'm out late in hopes of showing a night varmit the bright light...but, more often than not the two motion lights on the catwalk egging landing are plenty.
