I am on board with @feef706 on this one. Cooked a LOT of beer can chickens on my pellet grill, and can only say the spatchcock ones on my BGE are better and moister than those cooks, and take 1/2 the time. So much easier to cook, faster, more flavor and moistness, and cleanup is a breeze. Will save my beer for drinking.

I am not totally against the beer can stand, still haven't used mine, but it seem practical minus the beer. I opted for a spatch on my first whole bird, but realistically the beer can bird seems counterintuitive...
