Camped over the weekend with family and friends, all Cubs fans.  Hat is off, great young team.

Always enjoy chattin' with the neighbors.  Nice retired couple from Rochester, NY just picked up their brand new 13' Scamp from Backus.  Snapped this pic for them at sunset from my spot.

And this one of the neighbor on the left.  She had a catfish on not long after this pic, broke her line.  I didn't do too hot, a few small bass.  Temps were cool, not much action.  Perfect for a campfire though.

Another neighbor with a cool setup.

St Louis pork steaks from Schmucks

Everybody in the pool

Chili dogs

First time I used the camper's cooktop.  The burners' low heat are actually quite nice for a simmer.

Slow smoked the dogs while egreting a ham for my uncle, listening to Da Bears on the block rocker Sunday afternoon.

Did a larger snake method, solid.  Even with significant winds.

Nice to grab one grill to do it all.

Tried Mallmann's Burnt tomato, goat cheese, anchovy bruschetta.  (Page 36 Seven Fires)
Amazing app.  We added a few diced Calabrians.

True Mallmann form with some Pinot Noir lol

Michelin(BF Goodrich) came out with a new model of AT/TA KO2s this year.  Nice smooth ride on and off the road.  No drone.  Only gripe would be gravel getting stuck in the treads.  All of my vehicles have gotten Michelins since day one.  And again, they deliver a great truck tire, 5 stars.

Been spending some time in the tree lately.  So far, not much movement.  Have shaved my treestand setup and tear down time to 15 minutes.  Found a promising corridor in field #13, and this one along the river.

Pops got a new whip, 66' Stingray, Marina Blue.  The original knockoff spinners were 6Gs alone.  Really proud of him for pursuing his dream ride.  He's more than deserving.

We've had a blast with this 4 speed.  Plenty of punch, so much fun.....grinning ear to ear.

thanks for lookin'

    You must have worn camo when you made that bruschetta 'cause you killed it.

    @SciAggie,
    Thanks, it was awesome.
    Same goes for the book.  So many good recipes, techniques, to try.  I think this book may remove APL's Serious Barbecue from my #1 foodie book slot.

    Looks like great times. The weather has been really nice for camping, yes? You're really showing off the good ole webber kettle.  What a grill for the $. Good to see you're enjoying the fall. Great pics of the food and scenery. Thanks Brandon.

    Thanks a lot fellas.

    @pgprescott,
    Weather was great, electric blanket was perfect for the 40 deg mornings.
    I agree about the classic kettle, lb for lb, a heavyweight champ.  One grill, easy to lift and transport.  Really enjoy the added breathing room and real estate at 22.5".

    Thanks buddy.  So happy for him.  Picked one of the best(C2s), and beautiful color to boot, Nassau Blue.  The thing just pops in the sun.  And at 6'4", I can fit in it comfortably to drive.  =)

    Rut will be here before we know it.  Need all the luck I can get my friend.

    Sweet post man!  That food looks rediculously good! My dad's good friend has a 63 Vette Stingray. They are beautiful cars. Best looking Corvette in my opinion.

    Thanks buddy.  Some fun, simple, comfort cooks away from home.
    And I agree wholeheartedly, C2s are the shiz.  Couldn't imagine having the big block 427.  This thing hauls a$$ as is.

    What a good post.  Makes sitting at this desk brutal right now.  Especially when my dad and most of my buddies are heading into the woods.
    Love you dads new ride......it's bad ass.

    @GATraveller,
    Thanks man.
    The fall harvest is my favorite time of year.  Wish I could spend more time in the timber.  Moments before sunrise, being miles from the next human, walking through corn fields with low level fog, turning off your headlamp because you can only see at best 10 ft of ground in front of you, bow in hand.

    Makes your hair stand up, heart beat a little faster....love it.

    You ain't kidding brother.  It's the best way I know how to recharge my batteries.  For me right now it's watching my boys baseball and coaching my girls softball.....which is great and I love it.....but I do miss my time in the woods.  These days will soon pass and these kids will be in the woods with me...son AND daughters.

    Enjoy it.  I hope you have a productive harvest and your arrows fly true!

    Appreciate the kind words @GATraveller

    I agree, they grow so fast.  Lil' Focker is getting an adjustable bow from Santa this year.  Looking forward to some indoor target practice with him in Jan/Feb at the local bow shop.

    Plan to get a nice ground blind for Spring turkey, or eventually a two person stand to setup for the season, and bring him out with me next year....we'll see.

    Just sent my son's first buck to the taxidermist this morning.  It's been taking up a lot of space in my freezer since last Thanksgiving (and my son has been driving me nuts).

    Following this thread has been a terrific journey this morning! From the first mention of a Scamp which my parents also owned and traveled all over the West for years to the food pictures to your deer stand and lastly your Dad's Vett. You da' man!!!

    Thanks Ron.  Have always been intrigued by the Scamps.  The design hasn't changed much through the years.  They are a solid, lightweight camper.  This one was being pulled with a Rav4 4 banger.  Wish I was a couple of inches smaller, inside height is a little over 6'.  Couple was really nice and gave me the tour.  Always enjoying seeing others setups when out, both inside and outside the camper.  Bigger isn't always better.

    I too was always amazed at my parent's Scamp. Seemed like everything inside had a dual or even triple purpose! The tongue weight was light as a feather and they pulled it with a six banger Chevy Nova. They bought it used for $900, traveled for years in it and then sold it for $1,200!
