Not sure if anyone has tried this. This is great if you have multiple butts to pull
Ordered one today.

In the restaurant industry they use a much more expensive tool called the Buffalo Chopper (queue @SGH)......Of course this is for large volume institutional cooks / chops. You can get one of these for probably $8k-$9K.

Sorry @noarmysargent , my post is really for the benefit of SGH knowing there is yet another opportunity. Thanks for opening that door.

Real BBQ folk and restaurants use dual clevers!

Come on big guy, you need to up your data plan.  I'd rather run off 4G than free wifi any day.

Mixer works too. Easy to go too far though, with either device.

I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

@blasting beat me to it. I can see if you're doing a whole bunch of butts to make it easier. But after a 10+ hour, carefully crafted cook, I enjoy getting my hands in there and enjoying the art of the pull. Oh, and grabbing tasty nuggets of bark and fat along the way!

I agree. I have done this a few times now for our pig cakes and it is so simple and easy.

Yeah...not to rain on any parades...but I just don't see that it looks that much faster.  In the time it takes me to go find my drill, chuck the bit, set a bucket on the floor, then clean this thing I could have 3-4 butts pulled.

Which came first the chicken or the egg?  I egged the chicken and then I ate his leg.

  • I'm a puller and really enjoy the long pieces of lean in a sandwich.  It just has super texture that way.  (Shoot, I'm not making a pork sloppy joe!) I have a chef friend who swears that I can get that pull in my KitchenAid with a dough hook attachment.  I will try it soon and report.

Butt paste doesn't seem that appealing to me, mentally.

  • I use the gadget the OP posted about.  I like it.  It's fun to use, but don't get carried away and make butt paste.  I haven't done that, but I can see it's possible.

Can we all agree to never again use the term "butt paste"

On second thought, maybe I'll get it tattooed on my hand so I'll eat less.  I'm sure that tattoo wouldn't affect my ability to procure business...

If a pork butt is cooked properly, it takes no time to pull it.
