I discovered something new on the MM...

I've had the MM since August. When I first got it I wondered why the diameter of the grate was much shorter than the ID of the ceramic. Today I realized the grate could also be placed between the fire box and ring to do some good searing! What an "ah ha" moment. Gonna try it out next time I do steaks. The grate is so close to the lump, it's almost like doing it caveman style! Just thought I'd share! Happy Friday! cheers!

You could also fill the lump into the fire ring and accomplish the same thing without the risk of dropping your ring when you remove it. Adjusting the height of lump to cater to each cook works well.-----------------------------------------analyze adapt overcome2008 -Large BGE. 2013- Small BGE and 2015 - Mini. Henderson, Ky.

Its good that you found a purpose for the poorly designed MM grate and/ or fit.Dave - Austin, TX
