Strange Question - Cambro

I have the opportunity to score a full-size Cambro box from a friend who is retiring from the catering biz. The only thing is that it is a little beaten up and rough around the edges.
I am thinking about taking a little sandpaper to smooth it out and then hitting it with some spray paint to dress it up a bit. the seal is shot, so I'll be replacing that anyway.....
Whattya think? Something that's safe to do?

I wouldn't worry about it. It's only going to get beat up again.
Otherwise, go nuts. -
I'm with @Eggcelsior, unless you want it to look good. The big thing is it still in good working order and keeps things hot/warm? Nice Score by the way.XL, WSM, Coleman Road Trip Gas GrillKansas City, Mo.

Just really interested in knocking the rough spots off. It grabs at the upholstery in the trunk of the car/truck...
Maybe I'll just clean it up a bit. Yes, it works great! I've used this box for some church events over the past year. Now if I could convince the wife that buying his offset rig with a cabinet smoker built onto a custom trailer is a wise purchase......LBGE since 2014

Might as well buy the business or work out some deal to take over if you're serious about the rig.DaveRichardson said:Now if I could convince the wife that buying his offset rig with a cabinet smoker built onto a custom trailer is a wise purchase......Large and Mini BGE

I'd love to have the rig, but medicine runs the life right now. I could only play with the offset on the weekends.... That's something that'd be in my future!

Dave just take a razor blade and cut off the plastic that is "grabbing" the carpet. I have 4 Cambros and they all are a little rough looking now as they are heavy empty. Wait till they are full of hot meat. I did the same and bought them used....all 4 for 500.00 didn't even have the heart to try and talk him down any...1 XXL BGE, 1 LG BGE, 2 MED. Trim it the best you can and if it has holes and gouged in it, you can get spray foam insulation for a couple dollars and patch it.Then smooth it down again and paint.

That's just character!
