Fogo Lump Price Drop

camelcamelcamel let me know this morning that Fogo 35lb. bags are going for $43.50 today on Amazon. This is the first time I can remember that it's been on sale below $50 for since June. Prior to June, the list price was $45. Good thing, I'm working on my last bag. Of course my last purchase was @ $35. Good lump, and with Amazon Prime, shipping is free. I bought some this morning. Here in the People's Republik of California, getting Rockwood is impossible. I've tried Hasty Bake, which is supposed to be Rockwood, and I like Fogo better.

I just checked my amazon order history and I ordered a bag of Fogo back in November for $36.09 and it qualified for free shipping. I agree it's good lump, the bag I bought had some huge pieces in it and not much (if any) trash. I still have a hard time paying much more than $1 / lb for charcoal. I think my next order will be rockwood.
I went through a couple of bags of royal oak recently because I had a HD coupon, and man was it smoky and the pieces were medium sized at best. -
Thanks for the heads-up on the price decrease. I'm on my last bag too. I'll put my order in today.

I appreciate that we're tracking the price of FOGO. Thank you. I had checked the price a week or two ago and noticed it was just below $50, but didn't think that price drop was too noteworthy. I think I am going to hold off and see if it returns to the $35 range (or something close to this).

@mahenrak - You can set up camelcamelcamel to send you an update when the price gets to your strike point. Since I was on my last bag, I bought half of what I'd like to keep on hand. If it drops, I'll buy more. Otherwise, I'll wait until I'm almost out, and pay the piper. The lump is enough of an improvement over what I can get locally that I might even pay $50 for a 35lb. bag.

I'm very low on lump, which isn't too bad considering I am not cooking much lately, but deep down I feel I need some good lump. I paid $36.97 for Fogo/Amazon in November 2014 ($1.06/lb). Today's price= $1.25/lb. (18% increase..) I like Fogo, but Rockwood is $1.09/lb at Firecraft. I heard there was a backorder but I ordered some about 1 month ago and it arrived in a few days. Their website doesn't come out and say when on back-order. :(

Kebroak is a good lump to Up here its $39.99 for 40 lbs. I bought a bag of that and Fogo last spring

I like fogo at < $45. The way I see it it's $1/lb for good charcoal and it's delivered to my front door for less than $10. Last 4 bags of Royal Oak have been just fine, though and I can get those locally. The 18 lb (or whatever size) RO bags are easier to handle than the 35 lb fogo bag.Chicago, IL - Large and Small BGE - Weber Gasser and Kettle
