FYI it turns out that the MiniMax Cap Adapter for the Smokeware Chimney Cap also works for the KJ Jr. I just received an Email from Matt this morning to this effect.

By way of follow up, it turns out the correct configuration for the KJ JR is the BGE Cap with the Min-Max Adapter. I just placed my order tonight.
I wanted to confirm with Matt which cap I needed to order prior to making my purchase.

Kamado Joe is redesigning their vent caps and the new vent will be included with models being sold in just a few months.
The new design replaces the typical daisy wheel with this:

Kudo's to Kamado Joe for recognizing what the customer wants and providing options.

Ahhh they are just throwing out a bunch of gadgets and taking a shotgun approach in hopes of hitting the mark. The rotisserie thing and ash basket are good examples.

Actually the owner of the KJ company actively solicits input from customers on what improvements they would like to see. A different kind of vent cap was something there was a lot of feedback about. KJ is currently looking at/developing cast iron fire boxes to eliminate having to so frequently replace cracked ceramic boxes. The prototypes look interesting but they are significantly heavier than the ceramic boxes. Not sure how much they'll be able to lighten them up but when you're already dealing with a cooker that weighs a few hundred pounds what's another 30 or 40 pounds in a firebox eh?4Runner said:Ahhh they are just throwing out a bunch of gadgets and taking a shotgun approach in hopes of hitting the mark. I'm gonna have to disagree. It seems to me they are trying (which is much more than bge is doing) plus if you notice the $4000 Komodo Kamado, it comes factory with the rotisserie, and ash basket.4Runner said:Ahhh they are just throwing out a bunch of gadgets and taking a shotgun approach in hopes of hitting the mark. That's fine. I just don't see the value in it. There is always someone that likes or dislikes it. They are just trying to throw and bunch of bells and whistles on it to sell more grills. In the end, it heats up and cooks. I just don't buy labeling KJ as innovative...it's a ceramic cooker. Tech companies are innovative not cooking in a ceramic vessel manufacturers. Having said that, I do see value in the KK being setup for a temp control unit. That is nice. For that price it should be nice. I'm sure someone else sees it as useless. To each his own I guess is my point.Jeremiah said:

Shame on a company trying to make their product more appealing and useful to customers and hope to sell more units!!!4Runner said:... They are just trying to throw and bunch of bells and whistles on it to sell more grills...

I'm a BGE customer but I think KJ also has an excellent product and seems to more customer focused than the BGE folks in Atlanta.Auburn, Alabama
