Anyone ever saw this on the base of a Large?

Its almost like a "seam". Obviously its not a seam. Today I finally installed the rutland for my large that I got from @RRP about a year ago. Yes, I am a procrastinator. Anyway, saw this after I cleaned the old gasket off and just wondering what it is. You could not feel any step, difference in height at all.

Perchance is that where the seam for the old seal was located ... since your picture shows it near the hing line, that would be my guess.

@Jeepster47 You are probably correct, I didn't take notice of where the old gasket seam line was, but that's probably it, thanks.

Here's another possibility. Whoever installed your original gasket could have used the old trick of overlapping the two butt ends. Then taking a sharp utility blade knife made a cut through both of them down to the ceramic edge. Then remove the two cut off short pieces and they had perfectly adjoining butt ends. Carpet layers use the same trick. And yes that amount of cutting pressure could have left a minute scar in the ceramic. Either way I wouldn't worry about it!Re-gasketing the USA one yard at a time
