if anyone is near eastern Iowa it is this Saturday! It's a hell of a good time. 16 teams going head to head. It can be found on Facebook if any of ya all are interested. And yes I will be competing in all 6 categories...chicken,ribs,brisket,pork,open, and surprise. If I do well I will let ya all know....if not...well then we won't talk about it...lol. Hope to see some people frome the forum. We will have our BadInfluence shirts on so you will know it's us.

    Sounds like fun. I'm doing a comp in a few weeks myself. I have 2 more scheduled between now and feb when my trailer smoker finally gets delivered. Then I'm going to be doing one a month.

    @thatgrimguy it is a lot of fun as we don't take this to serious. It's like a giant pot luck with bragging rights...lol. Oh what kind of smoker did you order?

    @jstroke I will try and get some pictures for sure. Hope with the grand champ trophy. Last year we placed 5th overall. So hoping not to go backwards.

    Thanks Pete. Already up cooking and preping. We will see how it goes...been messing with the recipes this year now if just the judges like what I did.

    Pete going to do either a bbq taco or baked beans. I'm leaning tward the beans bit the mrs. Wants to do the tacos. Either way we have everything with us.

    @dmw naw it was not bad. Middle of the pac overall. Ribs dead last. That was 100% on me though. Time got away from me and I flat out overcooked them. And I mean to the point where when trying to cut them thy just fell apart. We did 4th in the open cat with out BBQtaco (wwhich you can get at badinfluence BBQ and grill food truck from 11-7 tuesday thru sat.) He he yeah I know cheap plug there.chiken was 6th brisket a dissapointing 10th.

    Oh pork was 7th so it was not our best showing this weekend but could have been alot worse.

    Not a excuse but when cleaning out the smoker before the comp. I slipped and fell in the crank handle and br used my ribs pretty good so in a bit of pain for the cook. Again that is not a excuse at all as we knew our food was not up to participate this weekend and we are owning up to it.

    Larry, nice to meet you and Mrs at Prescotts the other day.
    Had something pop up, couldn't make it out to Goose Lake over the weekend.

    Putting together a team (Good Vybz) 3 WSMs and kettle as of now, and will be bringing the camper out next year.  Pretty stoked to give another nonKCBS contest a run.  Thanks for letting me know about this cool event.

    You could probably tell my hamster in the wheel was running ape$hit after you mentioned it.   =)

    @badinfluence  Seems like you still had a pretty darn good showing in most categories. Just drug down by the ribs.

    I ordered a Shirley Fabrications custom 30x60 with side cooker. I scaled it down from my original quote, the way I'm planning it now it will hold 15 restaurant pans total which is still overkill.
